Learning from Brussels – A visit to L’espoir

We spent monday afternoon (Dec. 5, 2016) visiting the housing project of l’espoire in Molenbeek. An interesting project, built as a passive house for low income inhabitants. We especially enjoyed hearing directly from Mme Uzor, who is now a proud homeowner in l’espoire. She gave some insights on how the project had evolved, how she experienced the building and learned about how to live in a passive house. The challenges, discoveries and her advice to us as practitioners. Donnatienne from the organisation Maison de quartier Bonne vie also answered our questions regarding the cooperation and the support structures provided, and how they today, 7 years after completion, support the community.
